What does our fertilization schedule look like?

Our 8-step lawn care program spreads out over the entire year so your lawn won't suffer from a lapse in care. Besides fertilization, our program includes weed control treatments.

  • January-February: We mainly focus on applying both pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control treatments because that will help to prevent late spring and summer weeds from becoming a problem.
  • February-March: We'll apply another round of post-emergent weed control, along with the first fertilization treatment of the year. This treatment will be high in phosphorus to get a head-start on strong root growth to help your grass tolerate the upcoming summer heat. Humic acid will be applied to help your lawn absorb more nutrients.
  • April-May: Nitrogen-rich fertilizer and a micronutrient package will be applied to your grass at this time. Additionally, we'll add another humic acid treatment and more post-emergent weed control.
  • May-June: Our team will add balanced fertilizer and an iron treatment. Humic acid and post-emergent weed control will be applied as well.
  • July-August: Slow-release nitrogen and potassium fertilizer treatments will be applied to help your grass gear up for the fall. Another round of post-emergent weed control will be added.
  • August-September: We'll add micronutrients at this time to help replenish anything that was lost from the summer heat. Humic acid and post-emergent will also be applied.
  • October-November: A fall pre-emergent treatment is necessary during these months to protect against winter weeds. Post-emergent weed control will be used to tackle any existing weeds.
  • November-December: To finish off the year, we'll visit one more time to tackle any weeds.

Some common weeds that we treat include dandelions, nutsedge, thistle, henbit, and crabgrass.

We use both liquid and granular lawn fertilizers to attain the best results.

Our lawn care team utilizes both liquid and granular fertilizers because they both have their own benefits. Liquid fertilizers absorb into your soil very quickly, meaning that they reach the roots of your grass fast and start working immediately. Granular fertilizers are more effective for slow release and will supply your lawn with nutrients for an extended amount of time.

We adjust our fertilization treatments to what your lawn needs at different times of the year.

Depending on the time of year, your lawn will need different kinds of essential nutrients and different amounts of those nutrients. Our fertilization program is designed to cater to your lawn's seasonal needs. For example, in the spring, we will apply a slow-release granular fertilizer treatment to gradually replenish all the nutrients your lawn lost over the winter. In the summer, we will apply a liquid fertilizer that contains a lower amount of nitrogen; this is so we don't promote too much growth right before the summer heat puts a lot of stress on your grass. So, we adjust our program to fit what your lawn needs at different times.
